Wearing a Watch Over His Shirt Cuff

I am not exactly certain who the man in this photo is. I think he is Adolph Rickenbacker whose company was the first to market electric guitars. Adolph Rickenbacker was born in Basel, Switzerland and moved to the  U.S. in 1891, at age 4.  The reason this vintage image caught my eye, is jusdging form the clothing style, it looks like it was taken in the mid to late 1960, and I could not help but notice he is wearing his watch on the outside of his sweater cuff.

I notice this image in the recent Mazda Anthem commercial as seen below.
